Formulation Procedure

Procedure (Hot Process)

  1. Mix ingredients of phase A1 until complete dissolution.
  2. Preblend ingredients of phase A2.
  3. Add this preblend to phase A1 and mix until a homogeneous gel is obtained (Silverson / Ultra-Turrax 7 min at 7,000 rpm).
  4. Adjust pH to 6.5 with phase A3.
  5. Add phase A4 to the main vessel and mix under normal agitation then heat to 75°C.
  6. Mix ingredients of phase B and heat it to 75°C.
  7. Once both phases are at 75°C, add phase B to phase A and mix with dissolver stirrer at 3,300 rpm for 15 min then cool down to RT using an achor pale stirrer.
  8. Mix ingredients of phase C and homogenize (Silverson / Ultra-Turrax 3 min at 6,000 rpm).
  9. Slowly add phase C to the main vessel while mixing.
  10. Adjust pH to 7.2 with phase D.
  11. Preblend ingredients of phase E and add them to the main vessel while mixing.
  12. Add phase F to the main vessel and mix under normal agitation.
  13. Homogenize the formula (Silverson / Ultra-Turrax 5 min at 6,000 rpm).

Additional Notes

  • Stable 3 months at 4°C, RT and 40°C.
  • Aspect: Smooth white cream
  • pH = 7.36
  • Viscosity (spindle 6; 10 rpm; 1 min) = 73,500 cPs (73.5%)
  • in vitro SPF (measured) = 32.7
  • in vitro SPF (calculated with BASF simulator) = 11.2
  • Natural Origin % = 99
  • Application: Apply evenly on face and/or body. Re-apply every 2 hours for optimal protection.
