Formulation Procedure

Procedure

  • Combine phase A ingredients and lightning mix at 500 rpm for 5 minutes.
  • Add phase B to phase A, and lightning mix at 300-500 rpm for 15 minutes to break up agglomerates.
  • Add phase C ingredients to phases AB with homomixing at 3,000-3,500 rpm. Allow to mix for 10-15 minutes.
  • Scrape down the sides of the beaker and the homogenizer.
  • Combine phase D ingredient in a separate beaker, and lightning mix until uniformly dispersed.
  • Add phase D to phases A-C slowly with homomixing at 3,500-4,000 rpm; continue mixing for 15 minutes.
  • Drop batch.

  • SPF (FDA 2011 Method) = 51
  • UVA/UVB ratio (FDA Method) = 0.74
  • Critical Wavelength (FDA Method) = 374 nm
  • Testing also confirmed by SPF ISO 24444 Method.
