Formulation Procedure

Procedure

  1. Combine Phase A in a beaker and homogenize.
  2. Add Phase B to Phase A slowly and homogenize for 30 minutes at ~5,000 rpm.
  3. Add Phase C to Phase AB and homogenize for 10 minutes.
  4. Add Phase D to Phase ABC sequentially and heat to 75-80°C to melt waxes.
  5. Pour Phase ABCD into mold at 77-80°C.
  6. Place mold in freezer for 2 minutes.
  7. Remove mold from freezer and let sit until it reaches room temperature.
  8. Once at room temperature, remove stick from mold and let stand overnight.

  • Active Ingredient: Zinc Oxide ~ 14.3%
  • SPF (FDA 2011 Method) = 57
  • SPF (ISO 24444 Method) = 61
  • UVA/UVB ratio (FDA Method) = 0.80
  • Critical Wavelength (FDA Method) = 375 nm
  • Alternatively, Sheer Sperse® dispersion can be used to achieve similar results.
